MyCommunity app: help and frequently asked questions

MyCommunity is the mobile app for members of organisations that run on My Centre Office (MyCo): alumni associations, churches, clubs, professional bodies and community groups. It puts your membership in your pocket: your membership card, messages from your organisation, events, bookings, payments, courses, groups and the member directory, all in one place. This page answers the questions members ask most, and explains how to get help.

Getting started

1. Download the app
Search for MyCommunity by MyCentreOffice in the App Store on your iPhone and install it. The app is free. You do not need to create a new account: you sign in with the email address your organisation already holds for you.

2. Find your organisation
When you first open the app, start typing the name of your organisation. Results show the organisation's own name, with the name of its member portal underneath when it has one, for example Company ABC with My Members Portal below it. Tap your organisation to continue.

If your organisation does not appear, it may not have switched on the app yet, or it may have chosen not to be listed in search. Ask your organisation for an invite code and enter it under Have an invite code? on the same screen.

3. Sign in with a code
Enter the email address your organisation holds for you and tap Send me a code. We email you a verification code; type it into the app and you are signed in. There is no password to remember, and you stay signed in on that phone until you sign out.

  • No code arrived? It can take up to 2 minutes. Check your Junk or Spam folder. If you asked for a code in the last 5 minutes, use that one rather than asking again.
  • “We could not find your record”? Your organisation may hold a different email address for you. Contact your organisation to check or update it.
  • Your email is blocked? If emails to your address have bounced before, the app tells you. Your organisation can clear it, or you can contact us.
  • More than one record? If your email is on more than one record at your organisation, the app asks you to choose the one you want to open.
  • Membership card required? Some organisations only let members with an active membership card sign in. If yours has expired, renew it with your organisation first.
Using the app

4. Your home screen
Your home screen shows a tile for each part of your membership. Which tiles you see depends on what your organisation has switched on, so the app looks a little different from one organisation to another. Pull down on the home screen to refresh it.

5. Your membership card
Tap Membership Card to show your digital card with its QR code at the door or at events. Your card is saved on your phone each time it loads, so you can still show it when you have no signal.

6. Paying dues, bookings and invoices
The app never takes payment itself. When you tap Pay, Pay dues, Make a donation or Top up, your organisation's own secure payment page opens inside the app, the same page you would use on the web. When you close it, the app refreshes to show your updated balance or booking.

7. Courses and homework
The Courses tile shows your progress, modules and certificates. When you tap Start learning or Continue learning, or open a homework task, the course page opens on the web portal inside the app, already signed in, so you do not need to sign in again. Lessons, quizzes, marking a module complete and submitting homework all work there exactly as they do on the web.

8. Bookings
Choose what you would like to book, then a duration, a day and a time. Answer any questions your organisation asks, then confirm. If a booking needs payment, the payment page opens straight away; you can also pay later from My bookings. Some bookings need a document uploaded; for those, the app takes you to the web portal to complete them.

9. Your profile and photo
Tap My Profile to update your details and your photo. The first time you change your photo, your iPhone asks for permission to use the camera or your photos; you can change this later in your iPhone's Settings.

Safety and privacy

10. Reporting and blocking
If another member, a business listing or a notice board post is inappropriate, open it and choose Report. Your organisation is told straight away and reviews every report. You can also Block a member, which hides them from you in the member directory. They are not told. You can see and undo blocks in Settings, Blocked members.

11. Deleting your app account
Go to Settings, then Delete my account. This removes your app account: you are signed out, and your sign in, devices, settings and blocks are deleted. Any reports you made are kept for your organisation without your name. Your membership record stays with your organisation; to have it removed, ask your organisation or contact us.

Read our full privacy policy for how your information is handled.

Common questions

12. The app says it is down for maintenance
MyCo runs a short nightly backup, and the app shows a maintenance screen for those few minutes. It checks again every minute and carries on by itself when the service is back. You can still show your membership card during maintenance.

13. I cannot see a tile my friend has
Tiles depend on your organisation and sometimes on your type of membership, so two members of different organisations, or with different memberships, may see different tiles.

14. Does the app work on Android?
The app is available on iPhone first. On any other device, use your organisation's member portal in your web browser, which offers the same features.

For organisations

15. Getting your organisation on the app
The app works with your existing MyCo member portal: the same members, settings and content, with nothing extra to set up. Contact us to switch the app on for your organisation. Once it is on, your members can find you in the app's search, or you can share an invite code with them. The tiles your members see follow your portal settings.

16. Reviewing reports
When a member reports something in the app, your main admin is emailed straight away. Review reports in MyCo under Portal, Member reports: choose Action taken or Dismiss, add a note for your team, and hide a notice board post if needed. Please review reports within 24 hours.
